What to Expect at Echo Lake Hunts

Echo Lake Hunts combines exceptional trophy elk hunting with practical support, experienced guidance, and a comfortable home base. We want guests to arrive prepared, hunt hard, and feel at home while they are here.

Travel & Border Requirements

A valid passport is absolutely required for all international guests entering Canada.

If you are travelling with a firearm, proper declaration and documentation are required before crossing the border. We recommend reviewing the official Canadian firearm import rules well before your trip.

For the most up-to-date forms and requirements, please review the official government resources before travel.

What to Bring

  • Good waterproof hunting boots
  • Quality rain gear
  • Layered fall clothing
  • Warm gloves and outerwear
  • Binoculars
  • A backpack or daypack for miscellaneous gear
  • A small flashlight and water bottle

Trophy Care & Export

Our priority is getting your horns, cape, and trophies prepared properly for the trip home.

Capes are skinned, cooled, and frozen. If you are driving, we recommend bringing extra coolers for frozen capes. If you are flying, coolers are available on-site for purchase.

With proper export papers supplied by Echo Lake Hunts, border return is generally straightforward.

Lodge & Property Expectations

Because Echo Lake Hunts is also our home, we maintain a respectful and safe environment for all guests.

Alcohol is welcome after the day’s hunt, but not before or during the hunt. Marijuana use is not permitted on the property. Respect for staff, property, and other guests is expected at all times.

Hunt Structure & Expectations

All hunts are conducted with guides and structured to give you the best possible opportunity within your selected trophy category.

Echo Lake Hunts is a true hunting experience. While we work hard to put hunters in position for success, the result still depends on timing, conditions, and the hunter’s ability to make the shot when the opportunity presents itself.

This is not a staged or hand-fed environment. Hunters should arrive ready for a real, challenging, and rewarding hunt.
